SMALL GRANT FUND FOR WORKING GROUPS AND TASK FORCES
The EAAFP Small Grant Fund for Working Groups and Task Forces provides funding for projects (e.g. research, monitoring, site management, training, CEPA events/materials) that advance the conservation of migratory waterbirds in line with the EAAFP Strategic Plan 2019-2028.
The Small Grant Fund currently provides two funding options: 1) a grant of up to USD 5,000 for projects implemented by a Working Group or Task Force that addresses Key Result Areas of the EAAFP Strategic Plan; and 2) a grant of up to USD 1,000 to enable members of Working Groups and Task Forces to deliver their own work as a presentation, paper or poster.
Up to USD 40,000 is allocated annually to the Small Grant Fund from the activity budget of the EAAFP Secretariat. At the 10th Meeting of Partners, the Partnership adopted a standard application and assessment process for the Small Grant Fund (MOP10.DD.07). The Application Form is reviewed each year to enhance its usability for both applicants and reviewers.
ELIGIBILITY
Only members of EAAFP Working Groups and Task Forces are eligible to apply for the Small Grant Fund. Students, with the support of the relevant Working Groups or Task Forces, are only eligible for funding toward studies being undertaken at a research institution or travel to a conference to present original research.
Proposals should be targeted towards EAAFP key species or habitats, regions, or emerging threats or other specified Partnership objectives listed in the EAAFP Strategic Plan 2019-2028. They must also demonstrate how the proposed project would contribute to the Key Result Areas (KRAs) identified in the EAAFP Strategic Plan 2019-2028.
APPLICATION
The new application form for the EAAFP Small Grant Fund 2025 is available for download [here].
The application form contains the Grant Conditions and Project Assessment Criteria of the Small Grant Fund. Please read them carefully before submitting the form and take note of the following:
- Applicants must fill out the form and have it reviewed by the relevant EAAFP Working Group or Task Force Chair/Coordinator;
- The maximum funding provided for a specific project by the Small Grants Fund is USD 5,000. This amount can also form a contribution towards a larger project supported by co-financing from other sources; and
- Conference in-person attendance by a member of a Working Group or Task Force delivering their own work as a presentation, paper or poster will be supported to a maximum of USD 1,000. If the conference or event is held virtually, the grant will cover only registration fees or other logistical costs for virtual attendance.
Funds are limited and not all applications may be funded. Grants which are awarded are on the strict understanding that funds will be exempt from institutional administration charges (unless Partner government law so requires).
