Chinese Crested Tern is one of the most endangered birds in the world, with less than 50 adult individual left in the wild currently. They were once thought to be extinct from the world for sixty years, until they were rediscovered in the year 2000, giving them the name “the Bird of Legend”. The two of us from the University of Hong Kong visited their breeding site in Zhejiang Province this year in June, witnessing this historic moment of their rebirth and participate in the research on their breeding behaviour and the threats they face.
