Ramsar COP14: Pre-COP Orientations

As Ramsar COP14 is 2 weeks away, to equip delegates, especially youth, smaller CSOs and NGOs and newcomers to Ramsar COP14, two Pre-COP Orientations were set this week. One is for Youth and Civil Society (25th October and 1st November) and another one is on the Ramsar CEPA programme by Wetland Link International (25th and 26th October).

1. Pre-COP Orientation for youth

Introduction

This Pre-COP orientation will be hosted by the World Wetland Network, with the support of Youth Engaged in Wetlands and a number of other organisations involved in the COP.

The aim is to identify objectives for the COP14, plans for engagement with specific resolutions or events, and plan out wording for the Youth Statement and the NGO statement.

2. Pre-COP Workshop on the Ramsar CEPA programme

The head of WLI, Chris Rostron is also part of the Ramsar CEPA Oversight Panel, and will be playing an active role in the Geneva activities during COP14, and online in advance. WLI members can in particular input to the CEPA OP’s work on the Ramsar CEPA approach. You are invited to a pre-COP meeting online.

26 October at 08.00 UTC (English and French)

The meeting will be two-way: we will present the proposals for new approaches to Communications, Education, Participation, and Awareness (CEPA) in wetlands; and we would like your thoughts on that.
