Summary

  • EAAFP Member since: 2011
  • Number of EAAFP Flyway Network Sites: 11
  • Focal Point Contact: Information about the new National Focal Point will be updated soon

Mongolia became a Partner in 2011. It now has 11 Flyway Network Sites, the most recent designation being 2016, July. This landlocked country is home to valuable lake and river wetlands supporting crane and geese among many other breeding birds, including the Key Species of the EAAFP. A harsh winter climate prompts species to seek better available resources and warmer climate before returning to breed as Mongolia returns to summer.
