EAAFP CEPA Action Plan Documents
Communication, Education, Participation and Awareness (CEPA) is an essential element to conservation measures. With the vision that "Migratory waterbirds and their habitats in the East Asian-Australasian Flyway (EAAF) are recognized and conserved for the benefit of people and biodiversity", CEPA contains an objective to instill stewardship of migratory waterbird conservation and their habitats among people in the EAAF.CEPA concept was first developed as Partnership Communications Strategy. In 2012, a CEPA Strategy was adopted. The CEPA Strategy and Action Plan (2019–2024) was adopted at the MOP10 in December 2018. It aims to provide the communication and education tools (skills, templates, materials etc.) to raise awareness of the importance of the EAAF so that people will participate in activities that contribute towards the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their habitat that will benefit the community and contribute to sustainable development.
The key actors for the implementation of this CEPA strategy include those working at the Flyway, national and sites level. These include governments, site managers, multilateral environment agreements, technical and academic institutions, development agencies, private sector groups, non-governmental organizations and local communities.
