2021 International Black-faced Spoonbill Census announcement

The annual International Black-faced Spoonbill Census is scheduled on 15-17 January 2021. This event has been one of the core activities of Black-faced Spoonbill conservation since the commencement in 1993, as it can provide an annual comparable figure of the species to understand its abundance and distribution. This census is one of the successful cases in global bird conservation work in which participants could see a positive outcome.

More than 100 volunteer surveyors, including bird watchers, conservationists and site managers joined this census each year. It just cannot be that success if no volunteers take part of the census. The international coordination of this census is made by the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society.
